Nancy Pyrtle

Helllo, I am Nancy Pyrtle. God has blessed me with a wonderful husband of 35 years Mr. John Pyrtle, a terrific nephew Matthew that my husband and I are raising and the strength to be a mathematics teacher for the last 21 years in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. I currently teach at East Mecklenburg High School. I am the oldest of four children, two brothers and my sister Jenny Govan.

I was born and lived in Miami Florida until my junior year in high school. My father took a job in Winston Salem and I graduated from West Forsyth. I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a BA in Mathematics and a Masters Degree in Math Education.

From 2002 through 2007 my job was in curriculum and instruction as an academic content coach for mathematics and mentoring new teachers. It was during that time my mother took ill.

She died in December 14, 2006, five short weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. My mom was my best friend and cheerleader. She encouraged me to go into teaching and be the best I could. I have always had a relationship with the Lord, but never more so than with the passing of my mother. I was totally lost and did not know how I was going to live another day without her. I cried everyday. I was so caught up in my own pity that I forgot the promise from Jesus of Everlasting Life. God sent a messenger to me. She was an angel that smiled down at me letting me know my mother was with God. My mother had aceepted Jesus Christ as her Savior; I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior which means I will see her again in the Kingdom of Heaven. I have put my life in God's hands and pray that I can do His will. Praise be to God.
